Book of Shadows
Your Books of Shadows, or BOS on most websites, is your personal book. In it you can write spells, rituals, thoughts and feelings. Mine is a 3-ring binder so I can change and re-shuffle when I need to. I have a calender as my second page with the Sabbats circled. There's a journal section amd a section for poetry I write.

Circle Casting
Ever wonder why most Wiccan spells rhyme? :-)
It helps to memorize them. The chant I use to open and close my circle is a simple rhyme.

Open:(said while walking deosil [clockwise] around altar)

Around Around Around
About
Good stays in, Bad stays
out.
I open this circle, So mote
it be
Of Earth, Air, Fire and
the sea.

Close:(said while walking widdershins [counter-clockwise] around altar)

Around Around Around
About
Good stayed in, Bad stayed
out
I close this circle, So mote
it be.
Of Earth, Air, Fire and
the sea.

Any moment you choose may be marked with a rite of passage. (From Celebrating Life - Rites of Passage for All Ages by Tizpora Klein)

Some examples are Birth, Death, Initiation, Dedication, and Handfasting.

Choosing a Magickal name:
There are many ways of choosing a Magickal name. You can use the name of a God or Goddess you feel especially close to. You can use a favorite tree or plant. An emotion...anything. As long as it feels right to you.

My name Amethyste came to me in a dream. I was getting married in the dream and as I said my vows I remember saying "My name is Amethyste..." So that became my first name..And Jaquay is my actual middle name I just added an "e" so it would look good with Amethyste, and Ta-Da..I am Lady Amethyste Jaquaye. It fits me and I feel good with it.
